❄️ The Fits just got - colder ❄️

Fall is slowly steppin’ out & Winter is comin’ in - cold! As we all prepare ourselves for the colder winter months ahead, it’s known that a lot of us tend to dread winter. Not only for the weather & lack of heat, but also for the inability to really show off our style. A lot of us think there’s only a few ways you can style a heavy ass winter coat & some thick winter boots.
But, it can actually be a lot more simpler than that.

Look, I’m not a FAN of winter by any means! But I do actually enjoy the “challenge” of styling outerwear in the winter months. It actually can be fun & there are great, easy ways to still show of your Fit & style, while also still staying warm & dressing for the weather.

Today’s post is all about How To Style Jackets + Coats For The Winter time! Though it may seem like not a lot of styling can really go on in the winter time, there’s actually tons of ways you can show of your Fit & express your sense of style, while still dressing for the colder weather! By using some of these simple & easy quick tips, I might even end up looking forward to winter! Here’s How To Style Jackets + Coats For The Winter!

Puffer Jacket

PUFFER JACKETS are a super popular style of outerwear to rock in the winter & almost kind of essential. If you’ve bought a new winter jacket in the past couple years, it’s more than likely a Puffer Jacket. This iconic throwback style came back, swept the shelves & everyone needed to have one. I always remember not wanting one as a kid, because I didn’t want to look like the michelin man, but this puffy style somehow changed my mind, with it’s ease when styling.

When styling a Puffer Jacket, it’s best not to wear a hoodie with this piece. I say this because the collar of the Puffer Jacket is already pretty big & having a hood flop behind that can be really annoying. Instead, a Puffer is styled best with a crewneck, or a sweater. Anything with no hood will do.

Next, when choosing which pants to go with this style of jacket, anything will do, expect for a patterned pant. Depending on the colour or style of Puffer, a patterned pant (Army, Plaid, Striped Pants) might clash , or even take it from casual, to way too formal. A Puffer is known more as a casual style jacket, so even wearing dress pants with this style of jacket might throw off the whole fit. Try dressing this with a more streetwear look. Cargos, Denim Jeans, even Sweats will do just fine!

And to top off the look, try pairing it with a Beanie! You can never go wrong with a Beanie! I’d suggest not matching the Beanie with the Puffer jacket. Instead, try matching it with the pants, or shoes. Just don’t make it too matchy matchy.

Bomber Jacket

For the ultimate streetwear look, you’ll wanna cop yourself a BOMBER JACKET! It’s the typical kanye leaving the studio vibe, with the oversized look & orange reversible inside peaking through. This style of jacket pairs great with anything casual or sporty. So a hoodie, or crewneck, or even a long sleeve tee is perfect with this look! If it’s warm enough to have the jacket unzipped, even better! It will add some layering to your look with people being able to see what’s underneath the jacket.
For styling, you can either match what you’re wearing with the colour of the jacket (just like the picture here), or have the jacket as your pop of colour & have the jacket stand out (Example, wear a Green Bomber Jacket with an all black Fit).

For bottoms, you can totally wear anything you would with a streetwear look. Generally, cargos or sweats are 🔥🔥🔥 with this jacket! You could do Jeans too, as long as they’re not skinny. More of a baggier fit works best for this popular outerwear piece.

For kicks, Jordan 1’s are a VIBE with this jacket, which is also what everyone’s wearing rn. You could potentially wear any shoes with this look, as long as they’re not canvas style, or running shoes. More athletic style shoes like Jordan 1’s, Jordan 4’s, Air Forces or even BOOTS pair great with this jacket! Timberlands would be a VIIIIBE with this jacket 👌🏾

Workwear

If you’ve been following me at all this szn, you know I love the WORKWEAR look rn! It’s so easy to style + throw on & go about your day. If you’re not sure how the Workwear look will work for you, here’s some tips on styling this trendy look!

For the overall look, a workwear jacket is normally collared, sometimes lightweight & easy to throw on. No dramatic designs or innovative visual look. Just clean & simple. You can either cop a sand-coloured jacket like this LEVIS LINED TRUCKER JACKET, or even a DICKIES Eisenhower Work Jacket, that everyone loves. Both are super clean, & can be pretty easy to style.

For any shirts, I’d suggest anything crewneck style. Whether it’s a t-shirt or sweater, I find those style best with this type of jacket. Any shirt with a collar, like a button-down shirt or a flannel might interfere or clash with the collar of the jacket. Depending on the occasion, you might be able to get away with rockin’ a button-down shirt, but I think the collars have to sit together well. It can be tricky. For pants, I truly feel like anything goes - expect for sweats. This is more of a cleaner look, so anything from Jeans, to Cargos, to Plaid, or even Chinos will pair great with this - but no sweats. Sorry!

Wool Blend Coat

If there’s one coat in this list that’s essential - it’s this one! A WOOL BLEND COAT is something you NEED for style elevation, if you don’t already have one! It’s not only an elevation to help you be more of an adult, and wear out to fancier occasions, but it can also be really great for a casual look, just like this one!

Styling this jacket looks tough, or even intimidating, but it’s actually the opposite. It can be super easy to style & also really fun! For the top, you can honestly wear anything! A hoodie, or crewneck, to a sweater, or button-down shirt. Even a turtleneck! Okay, ESPECIALLY a turtleneck! Any of those pair great with this style of jacket! And for the pants - anything goes! Either sweats, or jeans, or dress pants, or slim cargos. Anything, but shorts.

For shoes, if you’re going for a more streetwear look, you can do any style of runners, or even that dad-style look. But if
you’re dressing up, a pair of black dress shoes, or even a pair of chelsea boots go great with this style of jacket!

Leather

My favourite style of jacket, might just be a LEATHER JACKET! IDK if it’s the rebel vibe, or the really dope stares you get when you wear a leather jacket, but I love styling this piece & it’s also one of the easiest outerwear pieces to style & rock.
The best way (imo) to rock a leather jacket in the F/W months, is with a hoodie! Super easy! Just throw on a hoodie & a cap or beanie & you’re honestly good to go! Now, this picture did give me an idea, for making a more formal outfit, more casual. You could totally pair a leather jacket with a turtleneck, paired with dress pants, or even plaid pants! It really good be a Fit, depending on your style!

When styling pants with a leather jacket, generally tighter fitting pants go better with this jacket. Either skinny jeans, or slim fit jeans, instead of loose fit cargos or sweats. Even if you wanted to dress the jacket up, you could do a slim fit pair of dress pants, or plaid pants.

For shoes, depending on if you’re dressing up, or going casual, there’s a variety of kicks that you can pair with this look.
If you’re going causal, any sneakers, like Vans or Converse are perfect. If you’re dressing up, a pair of Chelsea Boots or Dress shoes / Loafers would also pair great with a leather jacket. Again, depending on the occasion!

And there you have it! Those are my quick tips for How To Style Jackets + Coats For The Winter! Although winter isn’t my favourite szn, I do love being able to style jackets + coats, according to my mood & the weather. You should never feel like you can’t really show off your style based off your jacket covering your fit. The jacket is now apart of your Fit & there’s tons of ways you can still make it work!
