How To Throw The BEST Canada Day Party!
Wednesday, June 27, 2018
I don't want to brag - but I know a thing or two about throwing an awesome party!
Canada Day is almost here! And what a time to be a Canadian. i'm so thankful & so proud to be apart of this amazing, beautiful country. With so much culture, such beautiful landscape, & such great opportunities, there's no better way to celebrate this home & native land, than with an amazing party!
Planning a party can be tough. Especially if it's on short notice. But fear not! These 5 tips are exacly what you need to throw the best Canada Day party you've ever been to!
📝 The Set Up 📝
The space for where you're going to throw your party is SUPER important!
You've got to make sure all your guests are comfortable, have their own space & of course, feel welcomed.
This means the space you hold you party in needs to fit all of your guest. Whether it's 10 people or 50, everyone
needs to feel like they have enough breathing room & your space isn't too crowded.
Also, make sure you have enough space for a plan b option.
Is it suppose to rain at night? Maybe your plan b is you bring the party inside.
Are u having a pool party? Maybe at night you move your pool party to the patio for a bonfire.
Make sure you have enough space to host your guest for the amount of time you plan to throw your party.
Lastly, a good host also has extra amenities for your guest. Things people might forget to bring with them, or added things that would make their stay more enjoyable. Things like Sunscreen or bugs spray. Or towels or blankets.
Make sure you're prepared for small things people may ask for.
🍴 The Food 🍴
Have you ever gone to a party - and there was NO FOOD?!?! Right, I didn't think so.
Food bring people together. That's why you need to make sure the food is on P O I N T !!
When planning your party, it's key to know how many guest you're expecting, so you can plan the food ratio accordingly. You don't want to have 10 guest, but only 6 slices of pizza. Or even have too much food & not enough guests.
Know your number of attendees to know how much food to have - or not to have.
Also, as much as people hate to admit it - everyone loves surprises.
Try to think of a specialty item that isn't at most parties, that you can add to the mix. Whether it's a new dip you want to try, or an old childhood favourite that you think your guest would love!
At one party I had, I brought Pizza Pops as a surprise appetizers. My guests LOVED them! It was an item they hadn't eaten in forever & all my friends couldn't stop raving about them! I got two thumbs up all around.
Sometimes planning a party can be stressful. A fun way to take the stress off of food planning is to plan a Potluck!
That way, all your guests bring a food item, and you have one less thing to worry about. This is a great way also to make your party more culturally friendly. That way people bring new dishes others have never tried before.
🍻 The Drinks 🍻
We're throwing a party, right? So drinks are almost mandatory.
If you're not heavy on drinking, and don't want to also fit the drinks bill for al of your guests, the easiest and most common hosts practice is telling your guests to BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze). That way, everyone's happy - because they brought exactly what they wanted.
If you do want to provide drinks for your party guests though, an easy house drink you can make your guests is the super popular Jungle Juice, or the summer favourite Sangria! That way, your guests have something to start drinking as they arrive, and the party will pick up from there.
Looking for a new Summer party drink? A great specialty drink you can make your guests are 🍹 Wine Slushies! 🍹
They're super trendy this summer & SUPER easy to make too!
Here's what you need to make them:
1 bottle of white wine
2+ cups of frozen peach and/or mango slices
1+ cups of frozen strawberries
3 cups of ice cubes
Here's how you make these festive Wine Slushies!
- Blend 2 cups (or ⅔ bottle) of white wine with about 2 cups of frozen peaches. Add 2 cups of ice cubes as well.
- Pour into four glasses.
- Blend 1 cup of white wine (or the last ⅓ of the bottle) with about 1 to 1.5 cups of strawberries + 1 cup of ice.
- Pour it on top of the peach slushy.
- Add a straw, serve icy & enjoy!

🎶 The Music 🎶
Ok - if you mess up ANY of the above - THIS ONE is CRUCIAL!
We all know music brings everyone together. And if the music's trash - everyone will leave together too.
To prevent an early departure from everyone, make sure you have upbeat songs, to keep the party alive.
Whether it's new tracks or old tracks, everyone loves a good mix. Some word of advice, don't just put
your music library on shuffle. You want the vibe to be a good, consistent mix of upbeat hits!
If you're not a music guru, have no fear! I've got the perfect playlist to play at your Summer BBQ!

🎯 The Entertainment 🎯
Now, I'm not sure what you & your friends do at parties, but me & my friends LOVE to have FUN! When hosting a party, your main job title description is to keep everyone entertained. So do exactly that! Even if you're running back & fourth from the kitchen to the backyard, a great game to have your guests play is What Do You Meme? ! It's the perfect, interactive game to get all your guests laughing and of course - entertained!
I'm not sure if this goes without saying - but me and my friends love playing drinking games! And normally that's exactly what we're playing at any get together we throw. Whether it's Beer Pong, Flip Cup, Stack Cup, Medusa, or even Kings Cup - all you need it s table & some cups and your friends are normally good to go.
Looking for a new drinking game to play? Me & my friends played Bocce Ball last summer & it really was a hit!
It's a great game to play with a large group of friends & it can include everyone which is a plus!
