✨ New Year, New Me ✨
Now, I know what you’re all probably thinking… “You never had your ears pierced?!”.
Yes, it’s true. I’m 26 years old & I’m getting my ears pierced for the very first time…
I’m late - I know. But, i’m actually really stoked to be late, because now, I get to get my very first piercing with Pierced!
Pierced is a local piercing company here in Mississauga, and I was so happy when they reached out to me because getting my ears pierced is something i’ve always wanted to do, but i’ve always held back on it for some reason. I never took the chance to get it done when I was younger because I “wasn’t allowed”. But recently I’ve been thinking about getting it done more & more, and when this opportunity came about,
I thought - why not!
In today’s post, I’m going to share my experience of getting a piercing for the first time & what it was like. If you get squirmy, or don’t like needles, don’t worry - there’s no horror stories here! I really had a great experience getting my first piercing & I wanted to share with you EXACTLY what went down!
So a couple weeks ago, I FINALLY did what I’ve been wanting to do for years and got my ears pierced! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw me document the whole experience. I got to team up with Pierced at Square One in Mississauga & they helped me make one of my long time dreams a reality.
Going to the store was a breeze. I live in Mississauga, so I knew exactly where to go when driving to that location. Their store is in a great spot in the mall, and was super easy to navigate through the mall traffic. Once Olivia & I got there,
we were greeted with such a warm welcome from all the staff. They were excited for me to get my very first piercing & excited to get the process started. Once we got some paperwork out of the way & they confirmed my ID, they showed me their selection of jewellery & I got to pick out some pieces I was interested in. I got to pose with some of the selections & see which one might suit me best. After getting a quick survey going from Olivia & some of the staff, I picked my favourite & stood firm with my decision. I went with the gold earring. I generally wear gold a lot, so it felt right to me.
Then, it was off to the chair…
Once I confirmed the earrings I was going to get pierced, I met with with Courtney & she went through the aftercare process of piercings with me. I had never gotten anything pierced before, so I was really new to the culture, as well as the aftercare of a piercing. We talked about the DO’s and DON’Ts, Daily Cleaning, How To Protect The Piercing and everything in between. Courtney was amazing & super thorough with explaining everything to me & making sure I understood what she was telling me. This definitely made me feel more comfortable before getting my piercing.
Then, it was PIERCING TIME!
Right before the actual piercing, Courtney educated me on how she would be piercing my ears, and that she would be using a disposal needle to do the piercing. At Pierced they don’t use guns, instead, they use sterile, disposable needles to pierce the ear as clean & safe as possible. Courtney also briefed me on the dangers of using guns to pierce ears and why they’ve steered away from using them on their customers. There’s a lot of cross contamination that can occur when piercing with a gun, as well as health risks that occur from not being able to fully clean the gun before use. Also, piercing with a gun can make for a slow recovery, as the force from a gun can cause trauma to the body & have healing complications. Once the process was explained to me, I felt a lot more comfortable getting a piercing, know that I was in safe hands, as well as knowing more about the procedure & the cleanliness that went into the entire piercing process. Courtney asked me to breathe in deep, and then when it was time to exhale, that’s when she pierced my ear with the needle. I would say I have a high pain tolerance, so it didn’t hurt that much. It hurt maybe a little more than a pinch, but in less than 10 seconds, I didn’t feel any pain anymore. Very quick. Very easy.
And now, I’m PIERCED!
And that was it! I’m honestly so happy to FINALLY have my ears pierced! It was such an amazing process, that I really do recommend getting a piercing at any of the local Pierced locations. I really loved that Pierced took the time to really educated me on their entire process before actually getting the piercing. It helped me feel more calm and comfortable, doing such a new change to my look. I love that they also shared the process of how the company gets and cleans the needles, with their machine, as well as how they dispose of the needle afterwards. And now finally having the piercings, I feel much more myself and a lot more confident too! I’m so glad I can sport these gold earrings now & also really glad they suit me too!
That was my piercing experience at the Pierced location in Mississauga, Ontario. I’m so happy I could bring you along for the experience, and I hope you guys enjoyed seeing the photos & videos too! I love when I can share moments like this with y’all!
