I love working out, but this workout, was like no other !

If you guys follow me on IG, you guys know I workout pretty regularly. Between blogging, working, going to a couple events & hanging out with friends, working out
is something I frequently do & keep up with. I generally enjoy working out first thing
in the morning, as I start my day with a good sweat & conquer the rest of my tasks.
Though I generally follow my own routine I made myself, I don’t really participate in any classes at my gym. I hit upper body (Chest, Biceps, Triceps & Shoulders) one day & Legs the second day. I’ve been really happy with my routine & been seeing results as well.
But when Barry’s Bootcamp approached me to do a collaboration, I knew I couldn’t
pass up the opportunity!

Never heard of Barry’s Bootcamp before? Barry’s is a workout like no other!!
It's a mix of strength + cardio exercises that provides a dynamic experience & high-intensity workout that's super effective & super fun too! I initially had heard of Barry’s when I went to LA earlier this year. When they reached out to me to do a collab, I was super excited that I could finally check out their two new locations in Toronto. I’ve never really been one to do workout classes, but I’v heard nothing but good things about Barry’s & was open & excited to give it a try. Once details were finalized, I found out
I’d be checking out the Yorkville location & also able to bring a couple friends along with me too! I’d be doing my first class Sunday, September 8th & my second class yesterday (Sunday, September 15th).

Walking into Barry’s was already a new experience. When you first walk in, you’re greeted by the employees at the Fuel Bar. Then we walk upstairs to see everyone about to start the class stretching, catching up with friends, & getting excited to get a good morning sweat in. As I walked up to the front desk, me & my friends were greeted again, got signed in & assigned a Treadmill, or workout bench in the famous RED ROOM.
We were then shown the changing rooms, got ready & got in line to enter the class.

The famous RED ROOM I had always seen on Instagram was really cool! The room was filled with about 20 treadmills, and 20 workout benches. As we entered the room, we were greeted by our enthusiastic instructor Chris & he told us to start off with a quick jog. As he introduced himself to the whole class, we started our jog & got introduced to the structure of the class. The way the class works is you do a couple exercises on the treadmill (10-15 minuets) followed by a couple exercises on the floor as well (10-15 minutes). This rotation goes on once more, with a total of
2x on the treadmill, and 2x on the floor.

On the treadmill, we start off with a jog, then a run, and finish with a sprint. After the sprint, we would go into a jog, and then quickly go right back into the sprint. On the treadmill, we were doing a lot of HIIT (High-intensity interval training), which is one of the ways I do incorporate cardio when I work out. By the time I finished my last set of sprints, best believe your boi was drenched in sweat! Then, it was time to move to the floor.

Once switching to the floor, we had about three different weights (10lbs, 15lbs, 20lbs) to use. Chris had us doing a lot of different excersies activating different muscle groups.
We would go from bicep curls, to squats, to burpies, to deadlifts, too crunches and back again. I worked up just as much of a sweat as I did running on the treadmill!
Each workout was intense, but loads of fun!

We switched from Cardio on the treadmill, to strength training on the floor about 4x. TBH once going from the floor, to the treadmill & back to the floor, I really didn’t think I was going to make it. I was sweating, and almost out of breath. But I really enjoyed how motivating our instructor Chris was. He was super encouraging & would even call you out when he really saw you pushing yourself! I really loved the energy in the room &
it really helped push myself to my limits. Our class started bright & early @8am,
so of course most of us were tired & probably not even awake yet. But the class certainly woke me up & i’m glad it did too!

Though the class was only an hour, it was the most intense hour of my life!! It was a LOT of fun & I’m so glad I got to experience a Barry’s workout. It was also a plus I got to bring my friends along & they got to experience it with me as well! I had such an awesome time & would definitely go regularly if I could. The Strength + Cardio aspect is a great way to mix up your workout & really see what you’re capable of.

After the workout, we went downstairs to try out Barry’s Fuel Bar! This is were they had the smoothies that I desperately needed after that workout. I went ahead & grabbed their Acai Berry smoothie. It had: Cran-apple-acai base, banana, strawberries, blueberries, vanilla whey protein. And yes - it WAS as yummy as it sounds.

And THAT was my Barry’s experience! I honestly really loved going to Barry’s and I’m already planning my next trip back! It was a cool new workout for me & a cool way to incorporate a different type of strength + cardio into my workout routine. If you have a Barry’s near you, I definitely recommend you trying it out for yourself ! Whether you workout better in workout classes, want to try something new, or are trying to get out of a plateau, a Barry’s workout is definitely something you should try!

Have you tried Barry’s before? Would you ever try a workout like Barry’s?? I wanna hear from you!!! Don’t forget, you can ALWAYS TWEET me, write me on Facebook, or shoot me a DM on Instagram! Let’s chat!
