Things I never thought I would talk about on my blog - Things To Do While Quarantined

Now I’m sure the most talked about topic right now, Coronavirus or C0VID-19 needs no introduction. This is a recent pandemic that is talking over everyone’s conversation, and rightfully so. Though growing up, I’ve heard about other viruses here & there like Swine Flu, Ebola & the Bird Flu, I was never really old enough to understand the severity & the global effects. Now being older, more aware & recently more educated on the events of this current worldly pandemic, I can’t help but bring this up on my blog, as it is a current event.

With the spread of the Coronavirus and the constant news updates, this really is all that is on my mind right now. Especially as I am now home for a (now) two week isolation period. No, I have not tested for Coronavirus, nor do I have any symptoms or believe i’ve come in contact with the virus, but I am participating in not spreading the virus by self isolating myself. I am currently staying home, & refraining from going outdoors, in efforts to further spread the virus throughout my local community. This is a practice that has been suggested by WHO (The World Health Organization) as well as my municipal and national government. Everyone is being asked to stay home, if you don’t have a need to go out. Self Isolation is the best way to stop the curve of the Coronavirus spreading any further.

This is a weird time. I’ve of course never faced something like this before & I’m a little unsure what to do. BUT, I am looking forward to this little staycation I now have, to really focus on blog stuff & other tasks & projects I want to do. But also I can relax & do NOTHING If I chose to too! I’m sure most of you are looking forward to chillin’ & hanging out, or really don’t know WHAT you’re gonna do for the next two weeks! I wanted to help you out!

Here’s 9 things you can do during Self- Quarantine!

Start a Business / Start a Blog / Start a Youtube Channel

Right now is the PERFECT TIME more than ever to start a business you’ve always wanted to but “never have time” for. While the majority of the globe should be practice self isolation right now, there’s really no excuse or distractions you should have from dedicating time to plan & execute what you want your business or “side hustle” to be!

Take some time during these next two weeks to really sit down, plan out your goal for your business, blog, or youtube channel, and then start making those moves!

Learn a New Language!

What language do you speak? Only English?? Now’s a great time to become bilingual & learn a new language. There’s such effective ways to learn a new language online & with these two week social distancing period, you could really hold down a conversation by the end of this all.

I personally only speak english & learnt French in the past. Right now I’m trying to learn Spanish & i’m using the Duolingo app to teach myself! The app is super interactive & really helps you learn nouns, pronouns, sentence starters & a ton more! Instead of it being a stressful exam, they treat it like a fun game, to win points & beat your last score! Try it for yourself & download it in your mobile App Store !

Read a Book You’ve Been Wanting to Read

I know this is probably the easiest, yet hardest tip to do, but tbh, you HAVE the time to sit & read. Why not take advantage of this time to read a new book you’ve added to your list or even going back to read one of your old favourites! Though I’m not much of a reader myself, right now is a great time to read a motivation book to keep your spirits up, or even a book on how to boss up to get your thought in order. Or maybe you have a book on how to strengthen a skill you’re looking to sharpen. Now’s a great time to pick up a book & learn something new!

Beat a Game in Story Mode!

For all my Bro’s out there, this is probably a tip you’ve already taken part in! Me personally I don’t play video games. But right now, i’m considering going to buy a system since there might not be a lot to do. Playing any type of sports game would also be a great filler for not having sports on TV rn. So suit up !

Have a Movie Marathon!

This is something i’m SUPER EXCITED to do! A LOVE me a Movie Marathon! And now is the perfect time to do that! Whether it be a list of movies you’ve had on your list to watch, any new movies out on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, or even some of your favourite older movies too! One of my favourite movie marathons to have is a Jurassic Park movie marathon. I can watch all the older ones, and then end of with the newer Jurassic World movie! If you’re a Harry Potter fan, there’s a ton of movies that will get you through the next two weeks. If you’re into scary movies, you could easily do Paranormal Activity marathon. IF you can get through them all

Learn a Recipe

Always wanted to Cook? Hey! Grab a pan! With being inside for the next two weeks, it’s a great time to Google some recipes or Youtube some cooking tutorials. Though supplies might be tight, seeing what you do have, or getting supplies pre cooking to then learn would be a great opportunity!

GOAL SET!

In a time like now, right now is the best time to sit yourself down & self asses! Figure some life thing out, or even plan a new side hustle! Take the next two weeks to really think & figure out what you want to accomplish this year, or what you want to create! If you want to make a youtube channel, what is your youtube channel going to be about & how are you going to consistently make youtube videos? Take this time to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!

Learn a New Tik Tok Dance!

I’ll be honest - i’m not into the dancing either. But, if you can’t beat em - join em! I use to clown the Tik Tok app & now i’m obsessed! You won’t see me competing on Dancing With The Stars anytime soon, but with being in self isolation for the next two weeks, it’s something to do a a way to stay preoccupied! Whether it’s learning a new dance, coming up with a skit, or just watching content on the app!

Also, if you have Tik Tok - Let’s be friends! Add me: @MATTREDWARDS!

Youtube

I honestly put Youtube as it’s on category because there’s SO MUCH you can learn on there! You can literally learn a new hobby on the app or site, or even discovery new content, find a new youtuber to subscribe to, find inspo for yourself - ANYTHING ! Get lost in a youtube rabbit hole for a day! Because trust me - a day WILL go by…

And that’s my list! During these next two weeks there’s AMPLE THINGS you can do to preoccupy yourself and stay safe. Participating in Self-Isolation is not only important for you, but mainly for others, to help prevent them for getting sick. You could be a host for the virus & not even know it. So please help do your part by staying home if you don’t need
to be out.
